Annandale (N.J.) North Hunterdon tight end Kevin Haplea is set to announce his college choice and it certainly could be good news for the Nittany Lions.

“I’ve scheduled my announcement for Monday at 11 a.m., a little after our team workout that morning,” Haplea said.  “The announcement will be at my high school.”

Haplea has 23 scholarship offers including Penn State, Pitt, Florida, Florida State, Miami, South Florida, North Carolina, Louisville, Syracuse, West Virginia, Clemson, Rutgers and Purdue.

“I have my top five of Penn State, Florida State, West Virginia, Pitt and North Carolina,” Haplea said.  “I’ve been to all of them.”

Haplea has been to several of the schools on more than one occasion.

“I’ve been to Penn State three times,” Haplea said.  “The last time was for the Blue-White Game.  I’ve been to Pitt and West Virginia multiple times.  I’ve been to Florida State and North Carolina just once each.”

In addition to the Blue-White Game, Haplea visited Penn State in early March and again later towards the end of the month.

The 6-foot-4 and 235-pound Haplea is one of the top tight end prospects on the East Coast.  He caught 17 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns during his junior season.  Haplea also played defensive end and made 58 tackles including nine sacks.

Kurelic’s Comment:  The Nittany Lions have been on a recruiting roll, and I think the roll continues.  When Haplea announces his college choice on Monday I think it will be good news for the Penn State faithful.
