Kolb to visit this weekend

In early August, offensive lineman Khamrone Kolb from Burke (Va.) Lake Braddock said he cut his list of 10 scholarship offers down to five schools: Penn State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Connecticut and North Carolina.

A few weeks later, he narrowed that list three: Penn State, Connecticut and Virginia.  However, a fourth school has worked its way into the picture.

“I’ve been talking to a few coaches lately,” Kolb said.  “I’ve been talking more to North Carolina State.  I’m still talking to Penn State, Virginia and Connecticut.”

Kolb attended the Blue-White Spring Game, but has never been to a real game in Beaver Stadium.  That is about to change.

“I’m going to the Penn State-Temple game this weekend,” Kolb said.  “I’m going with my parents.

Kolb’s visit to Happy Valley will be an unofficial visit.

“I haven’t set up an official visits yet,” he said.  “I plan to take some.  I will take one to Penn State.”

Kolb said he is also planning to attend the Ohio State at Penn State game Nov. 7 and that might be an official visit.

Kolb said he recently talked to Larry Johnson briefly and will probably talk to him again today.

The 6-foot-6 and 300-pound Kolb has been a varsity starter since the beginning of his sophomore season and has played every position on both sides of the offensive line except center.  Kolb has also played tight end, but will play on the offensive line at the next level, likely as a tackle.

Lake Braddock is 1-1 after going down to defeat last weekend, 43-42 to Fairfax (Va.) Woodson.  Tonight, they face Northern Virginia perennial power Westfield – alma mater of Nittany Lions running back Evan Royster.

Kurelic’s Comment:  I can definitely see Kolb ending up at Penn State as long as the Nittany Lions have room in their class.  I tend to think his decision comes down to Penn State and Virginia.
