Johnson talks Penn State

Loganville, Ga., running back Storm Johnson says he is going to make an official visit to Penn State.

At one time, Johnson appeared headed to LSU.  However, that almost certainly is not going to happen.

“Right now I’m looking at Kentucky, Penn State, Alabama, Florida State and Michigan State,” Johnson said.  “I don’t have a favorite right now.”

Johnson has not yet taken or even scheduled any official visits.  But he says he will take one to Penn State.

“I’ll take one there,” Johnson said.  “I talked to Coach (Galen) Hall about a week ago.  He was telling me about their program.  He said he wants me to come there and see the place, see the campus.”

The 5-foot-11 and 210-pound Johnson, and Under Armour All-American and the No. 6 rated running back according to ESPN Scouts Inc., rushed for 1,300 yards and 21 touchdowns during his junior season.  Loganville won 15 straight games and a state championship.

Johnson is off to a very good start to his senior season.  He has 368 yards and six touchdowns in the first two games.

Johnson has not yet attended a college game this season, but that will change this weekend.  He plans to attend the Louisville at Kentucky game on an unofficial visit.

When asked if he might commit to the Wildcats this weekend, Johnson said, “I don’t think so.”

Kurelic’s Comment:  Marcus Lattimore is the guy at the top of the Nittany Lions’ list when it comes to adding another running back to their 2010 recruiting class.  They have a legitimate shot at Lattimore, but are far from a sure thing to land the star back.  Having Johnson also on the radar screen is certainly a good thing.
