Penn State running back Evan Royster will return for his senior season, he said in a statement released Wednesday by the school.
 
"I wanted to return to finish my degree and for my final year at Penn State," said Royster, "who is on schedule to graduate in May. I'm looking forward to next season."
 
Many had expected Royster, who had until Jan. 15 to declare for the draft, to turn pro early. He has rushed for 2,918 career yards, eighth-most in Penn State history.

Instead, he'll return along with fellow tailback Stephfon Green and an offensive line that retains four players who started in at least four games this season.
