Is Floyd Gator bait?

This past weekend, as he attended the Tennessee at Florida game on Saturday, Philadelphia (Pa.) George Washington defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd experienced two firsts.

“It was my first official visit and it was the first college game I’ve been to,” Floyd said.

Seeing a game the magnitude of the Florida-Tennessee game was certainly a good starting point for Floyd.

“It was ‘The Swamp,’” Floyd said.  “It is the loudest college stadium.  I’ve never experienced anything like it.  I was impressed how much the fans were into it.  That wowed me.”

Floyd also enjoyed his interactions with the Florida coaching staff.

“The coaches were great,” he said.  “Coach (Urban) Meyer, we have a nice little relationship.  The D-line coach, Coach Mac (Dan McCarney), he’s down to earth.  They didn’t put too much pressure on me to commit.”

Floyd’s next official visit will take him cross country.  He will visit USC this weekend and attend the Trojans game against Washington State.

“I also have Penn State, South Carolina and North Carolina scheduled, but I don’t have the exact dates in front of me,” Floyd said.

Previously, Floyd said he will make his official visit to South Carolina the weekend of Nov. 14 when the Gamecocks play Florida.

Even though he has scheduled his five official visits, Floyd is continuing to look at a few other schools.

“Those aren’t my final five,” Floyd said.  “I wouldn’t even call them my top five.  They are just the five I scheduled for my official visits.  I’m also looking at Ohio State, Michigan, Boston College and West Virginia.”

Floyd said he would like to get back down to ‘The Swamp’ for another Florida game, though he acknowledged that might prove difficult.

The 6-foot-3 and 308-pound Floyd is the No. 73 overall prospect and No. 6 defensive tackle in the ESPNU 150.  He has over 30 scholarship offers.

Kurelic’s Comment:  I continue to like the Nittany Lions’ chances though Floyd’s interest in the Gators can not be minimized.

ask him about the negative recruiting Florida has done on him against PSU?  Has he talked with LJSr about the issues that Florida planted in his head?  What does he think about those issues?

Poor at best.
