Kolb: Penn State now 'No. 1'

Last week, Burke (Va.) Lake Braddock offensive lineman Khamrone Kolb told Nittany Network he would attend the Penn State-Temple game on an unofficial visit.  He did so, marking the first time he has attended a regular season game at Penn State.

“I went up there with my parents,” Kolb said.  “We loved it.  We had a great visit.  The game was fun.”

Though it was the first time Kolb has attended a Nittany Lion regular season game, it was not the first time Kolb has been to Penn State.  However, this time was different.

“I had been up there for the Blue-White Spring Game,” Kolb said.  “The difference, even just for Temple, you could tell the amazing atmosphere.”

Kolb had to leave the game a little before it ended, but he was able to talk with all of the Penn State coaches before he headed home.

“I talked to all of them on the field before the game,” Kolb said.  “I talked some to Joe Paterno.  Everything is looking good.  It is pretty much Penn State at the top, No. 1.”

At this point Kolb is not ready to commit to Penn State, but that could change.

“I’ll definitely make an official visit to Penn State,” Kolb said.  “I’ll probably visit Connecticut.  I’ll definitely visit Virginia.  I’m pretty open for my last two (official visits).  I think I’ll take all five visits.  But I could wake up tomorrow and be ready to commit.”

Kolb was going to return to State College this weekend and attend the Penn State-Iowa game, but his team’s game has been moved to Saturday.  He is planning to attend the Ohio State at Penn State game Nov. 7 and it might be an official visit.

The 6-foot-6 and 300-pound Kolb has been a varsity starter since the beginning of his sophomore season and has played every position on both sides of the offensive line except center.  Kolb has also played tight end, but will play on the offensive line at the next level, likely as a tackle.

Kurelic’s Comment:  Kolb is certainly a candidate to be the Nittany Lions’ next commitment.  It would not shock me if he decided against taking his official visits and committed to Penn State.
