Burke (Va.) Lake Braddock offensive lineman Khamrone Kolb attended the Penn State-Minnesota game on Saturday, and before he left State College he had become commitment No. 20 for the Nittany Lions.

“I went up to the game with my girlfriend,” Kolb said.  “It went really well.  I actually committed.”

Kolb detailed how things came together on Saturday.

“After the game and before he went into his press conference, I talked to Joe Paterno,” Kolb said.  “I told him I was committing.  He said something like, ‘We better have you by now.’  He joked and said something else like ‘I wouldn’t like you if you didn’t commit.”

And with that, Kolb had joined a super Penn State recruiting class currently ranked No. 7 in the country by ESPN Scouts Inc.

Kolb narrowed his choices down to Penn State, Wisconsin, Connecticut and Virginia before he selected the Nittany Lions.  He has been to Penn State several times.

“When I first went up there I liked how they handled everything,” Kolb said.  “I liked the environment and really loved the campus.  I just like their tradition.  It is almost unrivaled by other schools.”

In addition to Paterno, Kolb also spoke with Bill Kenney, Larry Johnson and Mike McQueary on Saturday.

“Coach Johnson is my recruiter,” Kolb said.  “But I talk mostly with Coach Kenney.  He coaches tackles and tight ends so I’ll probably play offensive tackle at Penn State.”

The 6-foot-6 and 300-pound Kolb has been a varsity starter since the beginning of his sophomore season and has played every position on both sides of the offensive line except center.  Kolb has also played tight end.

Kurelic’s Comment:  Paterno and the Penn State staff continue on their recruiting roll.  In Kolb, they have yet another big and talented offensive lineman for the program.
