Burke (Va.) Lake Braddock offensive lineman Khamrone Kolb attended the Penn State-Temple game and wanted to attend the Penn State-Iowa game.  He did not make it to State College to see the Nittany Lions take on the Hawkeyes, but is planning yet another return trip.

“I had a game that day (when Penn State played Iowa),” Kolb said.  “But I should be back for the Minnesota game.”

The Nittany Lions take on the Gophers on Oct. 17.

Penn State is one of two Big Ten schools Kolb is interested in.

“I’m talking with Wisconsin,” Kolb said.  “We’re trying to set up an official visit there Oct. 31.  I’m not sure if that is going to work out.”

Kolb said the Badgers have verbally offered a scholarship and will be sending a written offer.

“I’ve been talking to Wisconsin lately,” Kolb said.  “Playing in the Big Ten is a big thing for me.  Penn State is still on top.”

In addition to Penn State and Wisconsin, Kolb is also considering Connecticut and Virginia.

“Connecticut is probably No. 2,” Kolb said.

The 6-foot-6 and 300-pound Kolb has been a varsity starter since the beginning of his sophomore season and has played every position on both sides of the offensive line except center.  Kolb has also played tight end, but will play on the offensive line at the next level, likely as a tackle.

“Penn State is pretty much talking about tackle,” Kolb said.  “I’ve been talking with Bill Kenney.  He’s their tackle coach.”

In addition to the Penn State-Temple game, Kolb also attended the Blue-White Spring Game in April.  Not only is he planning to be back in State College for the Penn State-Minnesota game, he is planning to attend the Penn State-Ohio State game Nov. 7 - and it might be an official visit.

Kurelic’s Comment:  If the Nittany Lions take another offensive lineman in their 2010 recruiting class, Kolb is the No. 1 candidate.  The other is Robby Havenstein from Frederick (Md.) Linganore.
