Carmon's tour begins

The 6-foot-7 and 360-pound Carmon graduated from Baltimore (Md.) City College, the same high school as Penn State wide receiver commitment Adrian Coxson.  Penn State assistant Larry Johnson has recruited both Coxson and Carmon.

Gulf Coast Community College (Miss.) defensive tackle James Carmon, who the Nittany Lions have offered a scholarship, made his first official visit this past weekend.  Carmon visited Ole Miss and watched the Rebels play Alabama.

“It went good,” Carmon said.  “All my questions were answered.  It was my first time there.  I liked it.”

However, Carmon did not commit while at Ole Miss.

“I’m still visiting Penn State,” he said.

Carmon has had an official visit to Penn State scheduled for some time for the weekend of Nov. 7 when the Nittany Lions play Ohio State.   He also has a visit set to Mississippi State the weekend of Oct. 24 when the Bulldogs play Florida.

Carmon plans to schedule an official visit to South Florida and says he will come up with one other school he will visit as well.  He is planning to take all five official visits before he selects a college.

Carmon has scholarship offers from the four schools he has selected for visits to this point.  He said he does not have a favorite.

The 6-foot-7 and 360-pound Carmon graduated from Baltimore (Md.) City College, the same high school as Penn State wide receiver commitment Adrian Coxson.  Penn State assistant Larry Johnson has recruited both Coxson and Carmon.

Carmon is in his second year at Gulf Coast CC.  He will have three years to play two when he gets to his new school.

Kurelic’s Comment:  The defensive lineman the Nittany Lions have at the top of their ‘wish list’ is Sharrif Floyd from Philadelphia (Pa.) George Washington.  However, Carmon is a run-stopping force who would also look good in Blue and White.
