Floyd checks in after OSU visit

Ohio State coach Jim Tressel is making his pitch to land the top prospect in the state of Pennsylvania.

Over the weekend, Tressel made a very good impression on Philadelphia (Pa.) George Washington defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd.  Floyd made an official visit to Ohio State.

“I had a good time at Ohio State,” Floyd said.  “I enjoyed it.  I liked the coaches.  I liked the campus.  There is a family environment there.  The atmosphere was good.  Ohio State has a lot of good things going on there.”

Floyd was in the Horseshoe on Saturday as the Buckeyes routed Minnesota.  He paid close attention to the Bucks’ defensive line.

“I could see myself playing there, the way they run their defense,” Floyd said.  “They said I could play tackle and a little defensive end.  That was good.”

Near the end of the visit, Floyd met with Tressel.

“We sat down and talked a little bit,” Floyd said.  “We talked about his program.  We talked about where he’s going.  He said he’s not going anywhere.  He’s going to be at Ohio State.”

In addition to Ohio State, Floyd has previously made official visits to USC and Florida.

“I haven’t really compared (the three) yet,” Floyd said.  “I’ll (eventually) go over my notes.”

Floyd has an official visit scheduled to North Carolina the weekend of Nov. 7 and has also been planning to reschedule his visit to South Carolina.

“I have to reschedule both of those now because we will be in the playoffs,” Floyd said.  “And I might go out to Penn State on an unofficial visit.”

The 6-foot-3 and 308-pound Floyd is the No. 73 prospect on the ESPNU 150.

Kurelic’s Comment:  It is tough to say which way Floyd will eventually go.  But it seems safe to say Ohio State is definitely in the running.  However, I also think the Nittany Lions are very much in the running too.
