Falling behind on Floyd?

Philadelphia (Pa.) George Washington defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd, the No. 73 prospect on the ESPNU 150 and No. 1 overall prospect in the Keystone State, remains a target of the Nittany Lions.

After making an official visit to Ohio State the weekend of Oct. 24, the 6-foot-3 and 308-pound Floyd was eyeing a couple more official visits.

At that time Floyd, who previously made official visits to Florida and USC, said he had an official visit scheduled to North Carolina the weekend of Nov. 7 and was planning to reschedule a visit to South Carolina.  He also said he would probably make an unofficial visit back to Penn State.

Things have changed some.  George Washington is 7-2 and plays Bartram on Saturday at 6 p.m. (GW defeated Bartram earlier this season, 36-0).  If George Washington wins on Saturday it will be guaranteed playoff games at least the following two Saturdays.

“So Sharrif won’t be taking any more official visits until after the season,” George Washington runnings back coach and Floyd confidant Mike Wallace said.  “I’m not sure if he will reschedule North Carolina and South Carolina.  I have no idea if he will get back to Penn State.

“I know he is high on USC, Florida and Ohio State.  He is definitely looking at South Carolina and North Carolina.  Nebraska is creeping in.  And Penn State is still somewhat in the mix.”

Kurelic’s Comment:  Wallace’s words don’t sound particularly encouraging for Penn State.  However, I certainly would not say the Nittany Lions are on the outside looking in.  At this point it is still very hard to predict which way Floyd will eventually go.
