Philadelphia (Pa.) George Washington lineman Sharrif Floyd is one of the top class of 2010 prospects in the Big Ten region.

The 6-foot-3 and 298-pound Floyd has scholarship offers from Penn State, UCLA, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Temple and Connecticut.  He has visited Rutgers and Temple, and attended a junior day at Maryland.

George Washington coach Ron Cohen is headed south to attend a friend’s wedding in June.  Floyd may go with him and visit Georgia and North Carolina while on the trip.

There are a number of other schools Floyd plans to visit - including Penn State.

“I’ve never been to Penn State,” Floyd said.  “I would like to visit there with JoePa being out there and all.

“I’m going to try and hit Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and I’d like to see UCLA.”

Floyd has been a starter at tackle on both sides of the ball since the beginning of his sophomore season.

“He will probably play defensive tackle in college,” Cohen said.  “But depending on the scheme, he could even play defensive end.”

Cohen feels his star lineman has what it takes on and off the field to be a success at the next level.

“He’s a hard working young man,” Cohen said.  “He’s a pleasure to coach and academically he’s sound.”

Floyd combines size, strength and speed.  He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds.

“He is very strong,” Cohen said.  “I expect him to bench press 400 pounds by the summer.  He lives in the weight room.”
