“Robby is the most complete lineman I’ve coached in my 23-year career," Linganore coach Rick Conner said. "He has it all: size, power, agility, leadership and intelligence.”

It would be hard to miss Frederick (Md.) Linganore offensive lineman Robby Havenstein.  Joe Paterno certainly hasn’t.  Paterno has offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-7 and 335-pound Havenstein.

Havenstein was a starter at right tackle his sophomore season and moved to left tackle his junior season.  He and running back/linebacker Zach Zwinak, who Paterno has also offered, led Linganore to a 13-0 record before a loss in the state championship game last fall.

“He’s a warrior,” Linganore coach Rick Conner said.  “Robby is the most complete lineman I’ve coached in my 23-year career.  He has it all: size, power, agility, leadership and intelligence.”

In addition to being an outstanding football player, Havenstein is a starter on the Linganore basketball team, throws the shot put and discus in track, and is an outstanding student.  He has a 3.8 GPA.

Havenstein has scholarship offers from Penn State, Maryland, West Virginia, Stanford, Kansas State and Towson.

“I’m looking at pretty much all my offers,” Havenstein said.  “And I’m getting a lot of interest from Nebraska.  And I’ve been invited to Michigan and Virginia for junior days.”

Havenstein attended three Penn State games this past season as a guest of the Nittany Lions’ coaching staff.  He was on hand as Penn State defeated Oregon State, Michigan and Michigan State.

“It’s a great atmosphere there,” Havenstein said.  “Everything is Penn State.  I liked the atmosphere a lot.  The people were great.  I loved it there I also went there and watched a practice.”

Though Havenstein is very interested in Penn State, he said he does not have a favorite.

“I want to see what offers I get,” he said.  “I’ll probably decide during my senior year.”
