Baltimore (Md.) City College wide receiver Adrian Coxson is “Mr. Do Everything” for his team.  Coxson plays wide receiver, cornerback, and returns punts and kickoffs.

“He is our big-play man,” City College Coach George Petrides said.  “Once he gets the ball in his hands he makes things happen.  He is also our shut-down corner.  He is the guy we go to when we need a play.  He is very elusive and he has great speed.”

The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound Coxson has been a varsity starter at wide receiver since his freshman season and a starter at cornerback the past two seasons.  Coxson is also his team’s back-up quarterback.

Coxson caught 34 passes for 821 yards during his junior season.  He averaged 24 yards per reception with eight touchdowns.  Coxson intercepted three passes.  He averaged 23 yards per punt return with two touchdowns and 20 yards per kickoff return with a touchdown.

Coxson has approximately ten scholarship offers on the table including Penn State, Florida, Pitt, West Virginia, Maryland, Boston College and Connecticut.

Former City College stars Bryant Johnson, Dwight Banks and Craig Brown played for Joe Paterno at Penn State, so it certainly would not be a stretch to see Coxson follow in their footsteps.

“I think he’s leaning to Penn State,” Petrides said.

Coxson has visited Penn State, Maryland and Pitt.

“I made an unofficial visit to Penn State last month,” Coxson said.  “I liked it a lot.  I liked the facilities.  I liked Joe Paterno.  They have a family atmosphere there.”

Coxson, who is being recruited by Penn State assistant Larry Johnson, plans to be back in State College in April.

“I’m going to Penn State’s spring game,” Coxson said.  “And I think I’ll go to Pitt’s spring game, Maryland’s spring game and probably Florida.

“Right now I’m just evaluating schools.”
