The Nittany Lions hosted a Junior Day on Saturday and Frederick (Md.) Linganore teammates offensive lineman Robby Havenstein and linebacker/fullback Zach Zwinak were in attendance.

“We went to Maryland on Friday to watch their practice,” Havenstein said.  “Saturday we went to Penn State for their Junior Day and watched their spring practice.  It went real well.”

Havenstein attended three Penn State games this past season as a guest of the Nittany Lions’ coaching staff.  He was on hand as Penn State defeated Oregon State, Michigan and Michigan State.  Havenstein had also been in State College to watch Penn State prior to this past weekend.

Havenstein was glad he made it back for another visit with the Nittany Lions on Saturday.

“I really liked it,” he said.  “I hadn’t been there for awhile.  I wanted to see how things are going.  They took us around campus.  It was pretty cool with all the students there.”

The 6-foot-7 and 335-pound Havenstein was a starter at right tackle his sophomore season and moved to left tackle his junior season.  He and Zwinak, who Paterno has also offered, led Linganore to a 13-0 record before a loss in the state championship game last fall.

Havenstein recently added scholarship offers from Virginia and North Carolina State to the ones he had from Penn State, Maryland, West Virginia, Stanford, Kansas State and Towson.

“Right now I don’t have any favorites,” he said.  “I probably want to take some official visits and visit some more places.”

Zwinak has offers from Penn State, Maryland, West Virginia, Michigan, Cal, Boston College, Pitt, Virginia Tech and others, but also does not seem close to selecting a college.
