Frederick (Md.) Linganore star Zach Zwinak headed to State College last weekend to attend the Nike Football Training Camp at Penn State.  It wasn’t the first time Zwinak has been to Happy Valley - he attended the Penn State-Michigan game last season.

The 6-foot-1 and 230-pound Zwinak worked out with the running backs at the NFTC.  I asked Zwinak if he prefers offense and he said he wouldn’t mind getting a shot at running back in college.  However, I see him playing linebacker at the next level.

Zwinak has been a varsity starter at both running back and linebacker since the beginning of his sophomore season.  He plays inside in Linganore’s 3-4 defense.

Zwinak made 53 tackles including six sacks during his junior season.  He had seven tackles for loss and forced seven fumbles.  On offense Zwinak rushed for 1,400 yards and had 19 touchdowns.

Zwinak has scholarship offers from Penn State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Stanford, Cal, Michigan, Boston College, Pitt, Rutgers and some others.

Nittany Network caught up with Zwinak during a break in the action last Saturday and has this video interview with the two-way standout:
