The Nittany Lions have a commitment from Canonsburg (Pa.) Canon-McMillan linebacker Mike Hull.  They also have an interest in Hull’s teammate, safety Chad Hagan, though they have not offered Hagan a scholarship.

“I’m still looking at Penn State,” Hagan said.  “But they aren’t recruiting me as hard as some of the other schools.  But I still like them.”

Those other schools would include Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina State and Buffalo.  All but the Buckeyes have offered Hagan a scholarship.

“Michigan offered on Wednesday,” Hagan said.  “[Ohio State defensive backfield] Coach [Paul] Haynes tells me how much he wants me to play safety for him.  I think I’ll be getting an offer from them pretty soon.  Ohio State is still my favorite.”

In addition to Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan and Penn State, Wisconsin is another Big Ten school in contact.

“Wisconsin is recruiting me to play running back,” Hagan said.  “They are probably going to send an offer.”

The 6-foot-1 and 210-pound Hagan played free safety and running back during his junior season.  He made 63 tackles and rushed for close to 800 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Hagan played most of football season and all basketball season with a left shin stress fracture.  He had surgery in April and had the cast removed on Thursday.

Coming off the injury, Hagan said he does not plan to attend any college football camps this summer.
