Some outstanding prospects will be in State College this weekend for Penn State’s football camp.  One of them is defensive lineman DaQuan Jones from Johnson City, N.Y.

The 6-foot-4 and 300-pound Jones is one of the Empire State’s top prospects.  Jones has started at either defensive end or tackle, as well as offensive tackle, the past two seasons.  He made 63 tackles during his junior season.  Jones is being recruited as a defensive tackle.

“I have 10 (scholarship) offers,” Jones said.  “I have Penn State, Boston College, Maryland, Syracuse, Illinois, Rutgers, Connecticut and Pitt.

“I have no favorites.  I’m trying to narrow it down.  I’m trying to look at Penn State, Pitt, Boston College and Maryland, those four.  I’m going to try to get to Rutgers and U-Conn in the next few weeks.  I want to get to Illinois, too, but those other four are the ones I’m looking at right now.”

Jones is looking forward to attending Penn State’s camp on Friday and Saturday.

“I’m supposed to go to the Penn State camp this weekend,” Jones said.  “I’ll be there June 26-27.  I’ll work out.”

This weekend will not be the first time Jones has been in State College.

“I went to some games there last season,” Jones said.  “I went when they played Temple and Indiana.  And I went out there for a visit this spring.  I went to visit and meet the coaches and take a tour.  I liked it there.”

Kurelic’s Comment:  The Nittany Lions have a good shot at landing this run stopping force in the middle of the line.  They would love to wrap his recruitment up this weekend with a commitment.
