Defensive lineman DaQuan Jones from Johnson City, N.Y., has committed to Penn State according to ESPN.com.

The 6-foot-4 and 300-pound Jones made 63 tackles during his junior season.  He is one of the top defensive tackle prospects on the East Coast.

Jones committed to Penn State over scholarship offers from Boston College, Maryland, Syracuse, Illinois, Rutgers, Connecticut, Pitt and a few others.

The star lineman attended Penn State’s camp this weekend.

Jones attended two games at Penn State last season.  He saw the Nittany Lions play Temple and Indiana.

Jones commitment comes on the heals of Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith defensive lineman Evan Hailes’ commitment to Penn State, and gives Joe Paterno two run-stopping forces in his 2010 recruiting class.

Kurelic’s Comment:  Several days ago I said the Nittany Lions have a good shot at landing Jones, so his decision comes as no surprise.  Jones is commitment No. 10 for Paterno’s 2010 recruiting class, and we will soon follow up with quotes from Jones.
