Toledo (Ohio) St. John’s junior Cheatham Norrils is a standout all-around athlete who excels in two sports.  Norrils is drawing interest from recruiters for both his football and basketball talents.

The 5-foot-10 and 170-pound Norrils has played quarterback, wide receiver and cornerback on the grid-iron as well as guard on the St. John’s basketball team.

Norrils has played mostly cornerback and wide receiver during his junior season and also returns kickoffs.  Through six games, he has six interceptions and six touchdowns.  Four of Norrils’ touchdowns are on pass receptions while one was on an interception return and another on a kickoff return.

“I don’t know which position I’ll play in college, whatever fits best,” Norrils said.  “I’m getting recruited mostly as a cornerback.”

Norrils is getting mail from a host of schools.  His list includes Penn State, Ohio State, West Virginia, Minnesota, Purdue, Northwestern, Oregon, Louisville and Toledo.   He said he has a scholarship offer from the Rockets.

“I’m mostly looking at the Big Ten schools,” Norrils said.

When asked about Penn State, Norrils said, “I like Penn State.  I haven’t been there.  But from what I know, it’s nice there.”

Norrils has not been to any college games yet this season, but might make it to Toledo for the Rockets’ game on Saturday.

Kurelic’s Comment:  Norrils has the potential to be one of the top prospects in northwest Ohio next season.  He is someone Penn State fans will want to keep in mind.
